By train: NEL (Purple) Sengkang, then switch to LRT (West Loop) Fernvale station. Exit gantry turn right and right again. Fernvale CC is on the left (10 o'clock). Take escalator up.

By car: Search post code 797650. Left turn just before traffic light, after Seletar Mall carpark.

Ah Sa Durian Farm

That's the name of our farm in Kulai, Johor, Malaysia. It was the year 2009 and our eldest daughter was still a toddler. We taught long and hard for an auspicious name for the farm but finally called it Ah Sa, as an alias to our eldest daughter. After visiting a few fruit farms to learn how others set up and run theirs, we soon realise that every farm uses peticides that are definitely harmful to consumers, yet farmers knowingy use them and consumers didn't really cared. We really don't want to be the same kind of farmer. We poured all over savings to buy the land, we don't want to do things that harm those who eat our produce. So, the idea that whatever we produce must be wholesome enough for our dear daughter's eating, and so if it's safe for her, it's got to be safe for anyone! Hence, the mission of wholesome food is sacrosanct and embedded within our farm's name from the start - Ah Sa Durian Farm!

Fernvale Happy Durian

Fernvale, Sengkang West, Singapore. That's where we lived. When the community centre was being built, a hawker centre and market stalls are integrated in it. We thought it would be super convenient for us if we can sell our Ah Sa Farm's produce there. So we applied for a market stall and we have been the pioneer tenant there since the onset!

Honesty System

People often gets cheated when buying durians, so durian stalls tend to suffer from trust deficits. We want to build trust with our customers. While we want customers to trust us, we also trust them.

Our fridge is never locked so customers can come and browse, take, bag and pay on their own. Drop cash into our cash box or do a Paynow. Hence, we also became a 24 hour stall where customers can drop by any time to buy on their own!

The majority of fruits in our stall are not from our farm. While we have a variety of fruits trees, our main crop is durian. Fruits on our racks and in our fridge are mostly from our suppliers. We always pause when we pass by other fruit stalls - check out their prices! We make sure that our prices are fair and competitive. Small quantity - we buy in small quantities from suppliers. Let's face it, we are not at a busy junction. We are upstairs of a Community Centre that people won't go to often, so we keep our fruits fresh by having small batches. Finishing then resupply!

These are fruits from our own farm. Know that you are buying fruits that are free from harmful pesticides, fungicides and herbicides! That a lot of effort has gone into that fruit that you are holding in your hand. That of the many fruits hanging on the tree, you are holding on to one that didn't get badly attacked by pest! That if it is not as smooth and nice, it's because no pesticides or food wax has been used! That if there are some pest marks, the marks are telling you that pests dare to eat the fruit, so should you! But, badly attacked fruits will not be sold to you. We will use our experience to determine that there will not be a worm hiding in the fruit, waiting to surprise/ scare you !😁
